THERE’S NO OFF-SEASON IN #TULUM THIS YEAR

Tulum, Q. Roo.- The tourist influx to Tulum is stable compared with previous years, says Patricia de la Torre, director of the Hotel Association of Tulum.

tlmmmmIn the infamous archaeological site, the larger than normal flow of visitors presents an upturn, keeping tour guides busy with a constant flow of newly arriving groups according to José Dávila Lastra, who works in this area.

Employment in accommodation centers, which consist of about 8,000 rooms, has set a record in Tulum at 73 percent occupancy, says de la Torre.

In previous years, hotel registrations in Tulum for the month of June generally reach 30 percent occupancy. The upturn is seen as the result of recent promotional campaigns for the area.

Generally, individual tour guides for the archaeological sites compete with the all-inclusive hotels that bring groups. This year, however, the high number of visitors is great news for the individual tour guides of the archaeological sites around Tulum, as they are being kept busy.

To date, records show most of the visitors consist of Americans and Canadians followed by Europeans.
